According to new allegations from a whistleblower, Ghislaine Maxwell, now completing a 20-year prison term for sex-trafficking crimes, is reportedly preparing a commutation application for consideration by the presidential administration.

Preferential Handling Claimed at Federal Prison

Congressional Democrats on the House judiciary committee revealed that a whistleblower provided information indicating Maxwell is preparing the commutation application. Additionally, they mentioned she has been receiving special treatment at the federal prison camp in the Lone Star State.

Representative Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the committee, stated in a news release that the facility's chief was assisting the convict with document preparation and submission to aid her effort for executive mercy.

Specific details of the “commutation application” are unknown, Raskin added.

Alleged Privileges and Special Accommodations

The representative claims that, according to the whistleblower, the prisoner has been given specially prepared food that are hand-delivered to her cell, and the warden has individually organized private meetings for Maxwell and her guests.

The visits allegedly include a designated private space for visitors and “an assortment of snacks and refreshments” for her associates.

Maxwell’s visitors were also reportedly permitted to bring computers, which Raskin described as an exceptional measure given the potential danger and potential for unmonitored communications.

In one alleged instance, when phone lines went down for other prisoners, she was given specific instructions about instructing her associates to call and how staff would relay the call to her.

Warden as “Personal Secretary”

The source also allegedly told House Democrats that when the convict wanted to examine and modify papers promptly, she reportedly employed the official as her “personal secretary and administrative assistant”.

The statement states that those writing to her would send files directly to the supervisor, who would hand them over to the inmate, who would review and edit them and provide them back to the official to scan and provide to the initial correspondent.

Additional Privileges Reported

Further perks allegedly granted to Maxwell include opportunities to interact with a trainee assistance dog – a perk typically prohibited – as well as exclusive nighttime use to the prison exercise area.

Her legal counsel has not yet replied to a inquiry regarding the whistleblower’s claims.

In a statement, the presidential office said that it “will not discuss” on potential clemency requests.

“As President Trump has stated, pardoning the convict is not something he has considered,” the representative added.

Recent Background

Over the weekend, reports surfaced that she told friends and family in electronic messages that she was more content at the new prison than her previous prison.

This past summer, she was transferred from a low-security prison in Tallahassee, Florida to the minimum-security camp in Texas, where most inmates are incarcerated for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes.

The transfer, which experts described as “unprecedented”, occurred just days after she was interviewed about the Epstein case by the deputy attorney general, Todd Blanche, who also once acted as the President's private attorney.

That interview came as the Trump administration was facing mounting pressure to disclose additional files related to the ongoing probe and amid intense speculation around Trump's own connections to the fallen billionaire and adjudicated criminal, who was found deceased in custody in that year while facing trial on sex-trafficking charges.

Lawmaker Reactions

In the news release, the congressman also revealed that he had sent a letter to the President, requesting explanations about the whistleblower’s allegations, and urged the chief executive to reject Maxwell’s commutation request.

“It would be inappropriate to approve any form of clemency to this convicted and unrepentant sex offender,” the representative stated in the document. “The government must not offer her with room service, with puppies to play with, with government agents attending to her requests, or with any preferential handling or facility benefit at all.”

The congressman asked that the official attend a public congressional hearing to discuss the revelations and also presented several inquiries to the President.

He inquired whether he had discussed a potential commutation for the convict with Blanche or others, whether he had directed Blanche or anyone else to provide her with the transfer or favorable and preferential treatment in detention, and whether she, her lawyers, family or agents have made any commitments to Trump or his attorneys.

The representative requested for a response to the inquiries by 24 November.

Last month, the nation's highest court declined to hear an petition from Maxwell on her trafficking verdict.
